This design combines "winter" through snowflake and mountains, "youth" through the star shape of it (stars represents the young and renewal) , "unity" in the mountain design and the curvy shapes on the sides both representing the value of the winter games, the balance of mind and body one of the Olympics visions shown through the elements and their overall symmetric design, the mountains also represents handwork and accepting new challenges that are important to the people of Gangwon as presented in their flag symbolism, and last but not least the curvy shapes also represent the elements of the Korean flag. The Different shades show the levels from dark grey (lowest) to light grey (highest ).
